Arsenal confirm the signing of Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer from Schalke

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer from Schalke.

A club statement read: “Sead Kolasinac will join us this summer on a long-term contract.

“Subject to the completion of all regulatory processes, the defender will start pre-season training in July.”

His deal is understood to be worth more than £100,000-a-week.

Kolasinac began his career with his hometown club Karlsruher before having a brief spell with Stuttgart and then joined Schalke.

The talented full-back made his debut for Schalke back in 2012 in a 2-0 win over Greutjer Furth.

The Bosnia international's arrival means that Gibbs, 27, is likely to leave as he has just 12 months remaining on his current deal.

The former England international has played second fiddle to Nacho Monreal for most of this season.

And although Monreal is contracted to Arsenal until 2019 and had a brilliant end to the season, Wenger could listen to offers for the Spaniard, who will be 33 by the time his agreement with the club expires.

West Brom are interested in signing Gibbs, as are Newcastle and Brighton.
