Messi: My Favorite goal was the one i scored against ManU 2009

Lionel Messi has scored more goals than most of us have had hot dinners.

When it comes to picking his personal favourites, Barcelona's little genius has an almost unfair number of goals to choose from (564, to be precise).

That is why, in a new interview with Four Four Two magazine, Messi's description of his goal in the 2009 Champions League final - against Manchester United - really stands out. As you can see in the clip above, he has labelled it "one of my favourites".

Messi scored the vital second goal in Barca's 2-0 win in Rome, which scuppered United's attempts to retain the trophy. However, it was far from a typical Messi strike.

While the Argentinian is more commonly associated with slaloming his way past defenders, his goal against Sir Alex Ferguson's side was a header.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, despite being only 5ft 7ins tall, it was a BRILLIANT header.

Showing that he can leap (almost) as well as Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi met Xavi's cross with a brilliant connection, sticking the ball past a helpless Edwin van der Saar.

"In that moment I imagined the goal, I could see it coming," he explains in the video, which comes from Four Four Two's 'How to win the Champions League' documentary. "I went for it and thank God that it happened.

"It was such an important goal in every sense. For me, for the team. For the way the final was turning in our favour.

"It was hard to imagine that I was going to score with my head with Ferdinand in front of me. But then from where I was standing I didn't have a marker and the pass was perfect so I could score.
"Actually, it was one of my favourite goals."

So, the reason Messi loves this goal so much? Because he left Rio Ferdinand (approximately half a foot taller than him) standing.
Sure Rio will be honoured…
