Wayne Bridge fears he is remembered more for John Terry handshake snub than his football career (Photos)

Wayne Bridge fears he is remembered more for snubbing a handshake from John Terry than for his exploits on the football field.

Bridge's spat with Terry was huge news seven years ago following claims that the then England captain had engaged in sexual relations with Bridge's ex-partner Vanessa Perroncel.

In February 2010 Bridge's Manchester City travelled to Terry's Chelsea in the Premier League, with the build-up dominated by speculation surrounding the pre-match handshakes.

Bridge famously refused Terry's hand prior to kick-off and the entire saga still plays on the 36-year-old's mind.

“The most disappointing aspect of it all is that I’m probably more famous for not shaking someone’s hand than I am for playing football," Bridge told The Sun.

“I get abuse walking down the street now and I let it go in one ear and out the other. It’s a handshake after all, nothing more.

“It’s so hard for me to talk about the scenario because there would be other stuff to divulge. But what I will say is that I could not believe the atmosphere at the game that day and the reaction of my team-mates, in the build up to the match and during."

City went on to win the game 4-2, with Carlos Tevez and Craig Bellamy both scoring twice at Stamford Bridge to shock the eventual Premier League champions.
