Gareth Bale apologised to Real Madrid teammates after seeing...... in 3-3 draw with Las Palmas

Gareth Bale apologised to his Real Madrid teammates after he was shown a straight red card in Los Merengues' La Liga draw with Las Palmas.

Bale was dismissed after 47 minutes of the dramatic Bernabeu encounter for a push on opposing player Jonathan Viera.

The Welshman had just moments earlier been booked for a trip on Viera and then reacted angrily to a slight shove by the Las Palmas man, pushing him to the ground.

"He has asked for forgiveness, he isn't happy with the red card but it is what it is," Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane told a post-match press conference
"These things can happen, it is a fact of the game and we can't change it, but with 10 we manage to draw 3-3. As always, I am not going to talk on the topic of referees."

The scores were level at 1-1 at the time of Bale's dismissal after a fine strike by Las Palmas attacker Tana had cancelled out Isco's eighth-minute opener.

The visitors took a shock lead in Bale's absence with Viera netting from the penalty spot before Kevin-Prince Boateng made it 3-1 with half an hour to go.

Cristiano Ronaldo rescued a point for Madrid with a late brace, netting an 86th-minute penalty before heading home the equaliser three minutes later.

Despite Madrid's late show, boss Zidane was disappointed with his side's performance as Barcelona moved a point clear at the top of the table.

"We aren't going to look for excuses in this, I look at what we have to do, and I believe that we have to do things better," the Frenchman said. "There are moments in the season like this, for three or four games, but we can't look for excuses from the referee.

"We weren't how I would have liked. We should have gone to kill off the game, to go for the second or third goal, but we let our opponent back in the game. If you leave them (Las Palmas) to have the ball, they are tough to deal with.

"But we don't have to drive ourselves crazy, because we have done some good things. We have to analyse things again and think about what we are going to change. And we are going to do it.
"Real Madrid put in huge efforts to equalise, we have character, we have some positives, but we have to be more up for it and ready, especially in the first half."
