Chelsea boss Antonio Conte makes Premier League history with third Manager of the Month award win in a row

The Italian boss led Chelsea to six straight wins over the month to extend their lead at the top of the table, although their first game of 2017 ended in defeat at Spurs

Antonio Conte has won the Premier League Manager of the Month award for December.
The Italian boss led Chelsea to six straight wins over the month to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Conte also won the award in October and November and becomes the first manager to win the prize three times in a row.

Chelsea opened the month with an excellent victory at Manchester City as Willian, Diego Costa and Eden Hazard found the net.

Talisman Costa was again on target to see off West Brom before Cesc Fabregas scored the winner at Sunderland.

Chelsea made it three 1-0 wins in a row at Crystal Palace with Bournemouth then comfortably seen off on Boxing Day.

Stoke ran the Blues close on New Year's Eve but Willian scored twice in a 4-2 win.

Despite their stunning end to the year, 2017 got off to a disappointing start for the Blues as their unbeaten run came to an end against Tottenham.

They remain top of the Premier League and five points clear ahead of this weekend's trip to champions Leicester.

Meanwhile, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has won the Player of the Month award.

The Swede scored five goals for Manchester United last month as they dragged themselves back into the title race.

Ibrahimovic found the net in the draw with Everton before scoring the winner at Crystal Palace.
He added another two to see off West Brom before a Boxing Day strike in the victory over Sunderland.

The striker missed the midweek EFL Cup success over Hull but is set to return against Liverpool this weekend as United look to make it 10 wins on the spin in all competitions.
