“This Is What Corrupt People Are Doing To Spoil Buhari’s Good Work” – Lai Mohammed Opens Up

Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, said corrupt elements are doing everything possible to muddle the good work of the present administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said they were doing this as a response to the government’s determined fight against corruption, The Cable reports.

In a statement on Monday, December 5, by Segun Adeyemi, his media aide, the minister said: “As the government fights corruption, corruption is also fighting back, using even unsuspecting sources. This is the biggest challenge facing the administration at the moment.”

He disclosed this while addressing the staff of the Nigerian Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

Mohammed noted that the government was determined and focused in its efforts to root out corruption in the country.

According to the minister, the ministry would launch an information app on December 15 to provide real time information to Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora.  He said the present administration was holding town hall meetings in order to better inform Nigerians of the activities of government and also get the necessary feedback on government’s programmes and policies.

The minister also announced that efforts were being made to revitalise the National Orientation Agency (NOA), with a view to strengthening to be able to communicate the programmes and policies of the administration to Nigerians.

On recession, he said: “We are spending our way out of this recession, we are investing massively in infrastructural development: roads, railways, power etc, and creating jobs in the process.”

He added that Buhari’s administration was tackling the incessant clashes between farmers and herders, taking concrete measures to end the militancy in the Niger Delta region and also fighting the insurgency in the north-east.

Meanwhile, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, a second republic lawmaker, said the Buhari-led government was the most corrupt in the history of Nigeria and the most nepotistic that has ever been since independence. He called on the north not to support him in 2019 if he decides to decides to run for re-election.
