The Punch reports that the governor assured the civil servants in the state that his government would fulfill the promise and as well, pay them their 2016 annual leave allowance before the celebration on December 25.

Rice is a major staple in Nigeria but some restrictions on importation of the product by the Muhammadu Buhari government has caused its scarcity and high price.

He expressed dismay that civil servants in the state had not enjoyed regular promotion adding that his government had concluded arrangements to commence this next year.

“All the workers will receive their leave allowances as well as a bag of rice each for the Christmas,” he said while assuring the residents of the state of a crime-free Yuletide.

“We are committed to the fight against crime and criminality.

Anambra will remain first in promoting the welfare of her citizens.  Our stimulus package was aimed at ameliorating the sufferings of indigent people, especially in the present economic recession,” he said.
