Rivers Police Arrest Killers Of Human Rights Lawyer

The Rivers State police has arrested and started investigation into the gruesome murder of Human Rights lawyer, Ken Atsuete

This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police in theSstate, CP Francis Odesanya during presentation of the command’s achievements in the last one month at the headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to him, about 75 suspected criminals are in police net over crimes ranging from murder, kidnapping to armed robbery, 249 fire arms and live ammunition were recovered,11 of the suspects were killed in action, 30 kidnapped victims were rescued with 15 stolen cars recovered among other exhibits.

Assorted rifles, pump action guns, live ammunition, mobile phones and other gadgets are among the items in the premises of the command.

One of the suspects known as general dodo, told journalists that he led a gang of six gunmen who are linked to criminal activities in Onelga and Ahoada Local Government Areas.

According to him, he returned to crime after accepting the state government’s amnesty because there was nothing to far back on.

“Before my amnesty, the government promised to rebuild my house that was destroyed and release my men that were arrested, but after the amnesty, they did not give me anything, i was homeless, I was even in the hotel when the police came to arrest me, that is why i went into this crime that led to my arrest”

The Commissioner of Police in the state while presenting a summary of the command’s operations and achievements in the last one month said besides the suspects and items recovered, the police has nabbed the killers of human rights lawyer, Ken Atsuete who was gruesomely murdered on August, 2016.

The suspects confessed to have carried out the operation that led to the death of victim a Port Harcourt based human rights lawyer who was killed on August 29, 2016 and on October 16, 2016 the leader of the dreaded cult group known as “Shina Rambo” who led the cult group that killed a police sergeant, later died from gunshot injuries he sustained during encounter with the police.” end of quote
