FIRS receives 700,000 applications for 500 jobs

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) says it received about 700,000 applications for the 500 jobs it advertised.

Chairman of the Service, Babatunde Fowler made the disclosure on Wednesday when he appeared before the House of Representatives committee on Public Petition.
Fowler’s appearance followed a petition by some of the applicants who claimed they were excluded from the process.

He said over 2000 of the applicants were First Class degree holders in various disciplines.

He assured that the organisation would ensure fairness and due process in the recruitment process.

“We have secured waiver and endorsement from the Federal Character Commission in order to ensure that the right thing is done.’’
